Facing Giants

We all face impossibilities often in our lives. Infact, one of the signs of growth is the struggle one faces to make “it” happen. If we are comfortable for a long time, then chances are we are not stretching ourselves enough to grow.

Growth requires change. Pushing against the grain. Breaking the cycle. Going against the rut. Doing something different. Doing something better. Learning something out of the ordinary. For this to happen, it may require us to wilfully put ourselves in positions of discomfort and resistance. Like a person going to the gym for the first time. Ever wonder about gyms and hospitals? How we pay them to inflict pain on our bodies? What a paradox!

But the pain is vital. The resistance is sure. If you stand up for yourself, you have to expect a pushback. If you decide to grow, you have to expect lapses. If you take a step to break a cycle, then get ready for hell to throw every temptation your way. If you fail, get up. If you relapse, forgive yourself and start over. If you spiral down, lift your head up. Don’t define yourself by your failure. Define yourself in terms the creator endows on you. He created humans to rule. To lead. To serve and make things better. And if you learn anything about ruling, then you know that the first person you’ve got to bring under the right authority is you.

That’s why when Jesus taught his disciples how to pray, he said “Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” If we are going to see the effects of His Kingdom, heavenly realities of goodness, rightness, peace and joy in our lives, it begins by first letting His rule extend over every part of you making you the person you were intended to be. Where his will, becomes our desire.

Today, don’t cower in the face of giants. Don’t sink into the pit of despair. Don’t slide down the steep slide of failure. Redefine yourself in light how how God sees you – one who is destined to be His Child and walk in victory.

So say it out loud today, “I will rise up. I will be victorious. I will see His Kingdom Come in my life. I will destroy this giant.”
